Katie Julius FNP

Meet Katie Julius, FNP, a nephrology Family Nurse Practitioner with Montanta Kidney PLLC

I grew up in Colorado where both of my parents came from sheep herding families. Before the towns expanded, they spent summers at sheep camps deep in the Rocky Mountains and had limited access to healthcare, often only seeing a doctor in the most serious situations. Watching my family navigate those challenges helped shape my perspective on the importance of access to care and patient education. I spent much of my childhood exploring the outdoors and working alongside my parents on the land. I later moved to a small ski town in Norther Idaho before making my way to Montana to be closer to the Lochsa River.

I began working as a medical assistant at a Family Practice in Carbondale Colorado when I was 19 years old. I earned my Nursing degree through Colorado Mountain College and my Master’s degree from Gonzaga University. I have now spent nearly two decades in healthcare, with more than half of my career in family practice as both a medical assistant and later a nurse practitioner. I have also worked in several inpatient settings including labor and delivery, medical–surgical units, ICU, neuro/trauma, and inpatient rehabilitation.

My approach to medicine is centered on patient advocacy, education, and individualized care. I believe small, sustainable changes often lead to the most meaningful improvements in long-term health. My goal is to work alongside patients as an advisor, helping them develop practical, achievable plans that fit into their lives and support their personal health goals. I believe patients deserve to understand their health and be active participants in their care.
