Katie Julius, NP

Meet Katie Julius, NP, a nephrology Nurse Practitioner with Montanta Kidney PLLC

Katie Julius grew up in Colorado where both of her parents came from sheep herding families. Before the towns expanded, they spent summers at sheep camps deep in the Rocky Mountains and had limited access to healthcare, often only seeing a doctor in the most serious situations. Watching her family navigate those challenges helped shape her perspective on the importance of access to care and patient education. Katie spent much of her childhood exploring the outdoors and working alongside my parents on the land. She later moved to a small ski town in Northern Idaho before making her way to Montana to be closer to the Lochsa River.

Katie began working as a medical assistant at a Family Practice in Carbondale Colorado when she was 19 years old. She earned her nursing degree through Colorado Mountain College and her master's degree from Gonzaga University. She has now spent nearly two decades in healthcare, with more than half of her career in family practice as both a medical assistant and later a nurse practitioner. She has also worked in several inpatient settings including labor and delivery, medical-surgical units, ICU, neuro/trauma, and inpatient rehabilitation.

Katie's approach to medicine is centered on patient advocacy, education, and individualized care. She believes small, sustainable changes often lead to the most meaningful improvements in long-term health. Her goal is to work alongside patients as an advisor, helping them develop practical, achievable plans that fit into their lives and support their personal health goals. She believes patients deserve to understand their health and be active participants in their care.
